Does Britain Have the Talent? A drama-filled series where judges deal with acts 'behind the scenes', the winner is caught in a 'repair' row and hardly any acts are British... while bookmakers slash the show's odds.
Sydney Christmas was crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2024 in Sunday night's thrilling final.
But despite head judge Simon Cowell claiming it was her best yet, fans of the show appeared to think differently, with punters saying she could be ruled out.
The show has been plagued by drama, with judges accused of pushing cast members, fans criticising the inclusion of international acts, contestants being injured and claiming the winner is "already a 'professional'".
Fans were furious after discovering that Sydney, 28, had pursued a career in music, although she was enjoying her current role as a receptionist on a zero-hour contract at a local gym in Kent.
The series has been criticised by viewers for featuring more international actors than ever before in this year's series.
Last month, fans threatened to boycott the show and call Ofcom, claiming the ITV show had become an "international show".
Elsewhere, Amanda Holden's costume once again became the subject of debate, with angry viewers claiming her daring look "enhanced" the action.
Further controversy saw a Britain's Got Talent finalist injured and forced to limp off stage during Sunday night's show.
The high-flying performance by the Solabi Performance Troupe came to an abrupt end for one member when he appeared to land incorrectly after performing a somersault.
With viewing figures also down, bookmaker Ladbrokes now has a 6/1 estimate that the show will be axed next year.
Ladbrokes' Alex Apati said: "Looking at the numbers only points in one direction, and the odds suggest the recent run could have been the last."
The Britain's Got Talent final fell to its lowest ever with 5.2 million viewers, compared to 5.3 million last year.
At the height of her success, 16.3 million viewers watched Diversity enter the 2009 final to defeat singer Susan Boyle.
Britain's Got Talent fans have reacted furiously online after discovering Sydney had previously pursued a career in music.
The rising West End star won the coveted £250,000 prize and will get the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Show after impressing judges Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, Elisha Dixon and Amanda Holden and winning over the voting public.
She beat out ten other standout performers with a performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow after the packed episode.
Despite her win, viewers at home were left wondering if she's a professional actress.'
“I think you have signs of faking it and making up with singles and professional singers.”
"A complete solution and he got killed somewhere over the rainbow. And he's a 'professional'.
Sydney Christmas is a professional singer who already has a song on Spotify. Britain won, talent was found. What a perfect solution, I'm so glad I found this * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"She shouldn't have won either because she's already a professional singer."
"I saw on social media that if it's true that Sydney Christmas was in Germany preparing for Starlight Express, that seems professional to me."
The reaction to Sydney's win follows similar sentiments being expressed by fans early in the audition process.
Sydney has worked on cruise ships including Royal Caribbean International where she played Rizzo in the musical Grey's.
She made her London debut as the lead singer of Lazarus, performing the music of David Bowie at the King's Cross Theatre and shared a photo of Hollywood actor Woody Harrelson backstage after attending the show.
As mentioned in a previous article, she then appeared as Belle de Barcar in the German production of Starlight Express in 2019.
However, her current position sees her working on a zero-hour contract as a receptionist at a local gym in Kent and she previously insisted she would return to work on Monday morning, despite the results of the Sunday show.
Speaking to the Mirror, she joked: 'I've already had two weeks off and I'm on a zero-hour contract. I've got to pay rent!'
Sydney has dreamed of being able to work full-time on the West End stage and hopes BGT will be a step towards realising that dream.
“In a year I hope to live my dream. I want to do what I love in life rather than throw in the towel and cringe! '
Elsewhere, Amanda Holden defended Britain's Got Talent's diversity during Sunday night's final.
The series has been criticised by viewers for featuring more international actors than ever before in this year's series.
Last month, fans threatened to boycott the show and call Ofcom, claiming the ITV show had become an "international show".
And during the finale, Amanda defended the show's diversity by thanking dance duo Afernita and Abigail for coming all the way from Ghana to compete.
After the pair's lively performance, the judge said: "I'm in awe of you two. Thank you so much for coming over here.
"It's a global show and we welcome you all and you've been amazing."
While Sydney Christmas won the show after a strong performance by Somewhere Over the Rainbow, this year's finale also featured a number of international performers.
Saulabi Performance Troupe is a Taekwondo group from South Korea, while Double Dutch Group Haribo is from Japan.
Singer Nkoluliko Innocent Masoko, who now resides in London, is originally from South Africa and a former member of the Cape Town Opera studio.
Despite the incredible talent, fans were not happy with Amanda when she took to Twitter to suggest changing the name of the show to 'The Globe's Got Talent' after insisting it was 'an international series'.
She wrote: "If #BGT is a 'global show' as Amanda has just claimed, then maybe it should be renamed 'The Globe's Got Talent'.
#BGT No Amanda, it's called Britain's Got Talent! If you want it to be global, it's called The World's Got Talent.
"I heard Amanda say last night that the show is global, so why isn't it called The Globe?
“No, Amanda, this show is not global. It's Britain's Got Talent.
"If this is a 'global competition' Amanda, why is it called Britain's Got Talent? #BGT"
Early in the series, disgruntled fans admitted they believed the series should be aimed at British audiences because of its name and wanted to take the matter to the UK's television regulator.
Disgruntled fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to complain about a series of international auditions, which featured very few British performers.
Some people wrote: "It seems Britain's Got Talent has gone from Britain's Got Talent to an international type show." »
And the British have people with sad stories too. It's very sad when people get sick and it's very inspiring when they recover from an illness and can be happy and healthy. But after doing that, getting in front of the microphone is not a skill. "
"If someone lives in the UK but comes from somewhere else, I obviously understand they can audition, but what's the point of artists specifically coming to audition?"
"It was disappointing to see so much activity from other countries on BGT. In a way, it undermines the essence of BGT and misses the point. Maybe no one applied this year.'
"All the artists have been amazing, but I hope they don't replace British talent."
The Britain's Got Talent finalist was injured during Sunday night's final show and had to limp off the stage.
Top-level troupe Solabi Performance Troupe made it to the final, but one of its members suffered an on-stage accident.
It competed against ten other artists for the £250,000 prize and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Show, but ultimately lost out to singer Sydney Christmas.
The Korean martial arts experts' routine came to an abrupt end for one of the members when he appeared to land wrong after performing a stunning somersault.
She quickly left the stage after taking a bow, leaving the rest of the group to finish the performance.
This happened when two performers were launched into the air and were planning to throw wooden blocks as they launched themselves.
However, one move didn't go to plan with a collision between them, before a fellow performer fell badly at her feet.
In her comments, judge Elisha Dixon acknowledged the accident and said she hoped the member was okay.
Fans were quick to react to the moment, saying: "Did one of the cast just break their foot? That looks serious #bgtfinal."
A second added: "This is really cool but did I just see Mateboi break his foot and crawl? It hurts me #bgtfinal."
Meanwhile, Amanda has a history of choosing outrageous outfits for the family show and angry viewers have made complaints to Ofcom in the past and this year was no different.
The judge saved the best for last as she showed off her most risqué outfit yet in a silver corset dress.
She went braless as she showed off her ample cleavage in a carefully fitted dress that included a trainer-style bra.
The bottom half of the dress then transformed into a sheer silver mesh skirt as she waved to the audience.
Taking to Instagram with stunning photos as she posed poolside, Amanda wrote: “Ends with a bang @bgt 7:30pm @itv.”
Fans took to Twitter to share their opinions on her daring outfit choice, branding it inappropriate for a family show.
She wrote: “Considering this is a family show… Amanda Holden wears the most inappropriate outfits!!'; 'WTF is Amanda wearing? #bgt #britainsgotalent #bgt finale.'
“I have to ask… What the f*** is Amanda Holden wearing and how does it stay in place?” "Amanda should just leave him and go topless."
"I hope Amanda Holden is okay, she's ready for open heart surgery." "#BGT It's just a matter of time and camera angle until Amanda shows her nipples."
Meanwhile, Elisha Dixon stunned fans after choosing her outfit for the final of Britain's Got Talent.
The 45-year-old judge looked radiant as she opted for a red one-shoulder dress.
Featuring a high leg cut, the star looked radiant in the dress as she styled her hair in a long twisted black braid.
However, fans were left in hysterics by her outfit and joked that she looked like Quality Street, a popular British chocolate.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, they shared photos of the famous sweet treat, comparing Alisha's dress to a strawberry cream wrapper.
She joked: “Élisée reminds me of buying quality street”; “Has everyone already said that Elisha's outfit looks like a quality street rapper outfit?”
“Then Alisha Dixon came on as Quality Street”; “Is it just me or is Elisha Dixon wearing quality street rapper?”
#BGT thinks Elisha and Amanda go through tons of quality. Tonight is red.
“Alisha's outfit looks an awful lot like a standard street rapper”; “Elisha Dixon wears clothes made by the rest of the quality street rappers.”
