Will Smith brings back memory-wiping Men in Black character during surprise performance at Coachella... for first concert since THAT SLAPPED
Will Smith surprised the Coachella crowd in Indio, California, on Sunday, joining J Balvin for a high-energy performance of Men in Black.
The Oscar-winning actor and former rapper, 55, and the Colombian singer, 38, thrilled the crowd as they performed the song from Smith's 1997 alien sci-fi film of the same name.
Will even took on the role of James Darrell Edwards III (Agent J) in a black suit and sunglasses. Some of his dancers matched his appearance, while others dressed up as green aliens for the occasion.
Will's return to the Coachella stage comes five years after he last performed at the festival in 2019, when he joined his son Jaden Smith on the Sahara stage as they performed their song 'Icon '.
It's also his first musical performance since his infamous incident at the 2022 Oscars, in which he slapped comedian Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's, 52-year-old's, hair.
Jada and Jaden, 25, who received a kiss on the neck from Justin Bieber the day before, were also present on Sunday to support Will.
Will gave an enthusiastic performance, encouraging the audience to sing along as Balvin danced alongside him.
At the end of the song, Balvin was captured by two agents and hilariously dragged off stage.
Smith was later seen holding the device used in the film to erase the memories of people who witness extraterrestrial activity, as well as erasing the memories of agents who are ready to retire.
While Will channeled his character, Balvin wore a shiny silver jacket and pants over a white T-shirt.
During another part of his performance he donned a black leather biker jacket with a gold emblem.
He completed the look with black sunglasses and a pair of black jeans.
Meanwhile, the actor's wife, Jada, wore a long white coat, a denim skirt and black boots for the occasion.
Jaden sported a pink jacket over a black blouse and oversized light blue jeans that he wore fashionably low.
The 1997 film starred Will alongside Tommy Lee Jones (Agent K) as agents of a secret government agency, the MIB, tasked with monitoring extraterrestrial activity on Earth.
The film grossed $250.7 million at the domestic box office and spawned three sequels: 2002's Men in Black II, 2012's Men in Black 3, and 2019's Men in Black: International.
The Smith family seemed to have a blast at the event.
Jaden was also present at the festival the day before and was photographed receiving a kiss on the neck from Justin Bieber during a PDA.
The Sorry singer, 29, and the Karate Kid actor, who were last seen together at a dinner in Beverly Hills in January, enjoyed a warm reunion in a VIP area next to one of the concert stages, as seen in a viral video.
Jaden adorably surprised his best friend by wrapping him in a hug from behind.
Justin then playfully kissed Jaden's cheek before striking up a lively conversation with his old friend and their other mutual friends.
As fans know, the superstars' bond dates back to 2010, when they collaborated on Justin's hit Never Say Never, which was also the theme song to Jaden's film The Karate Kid.
Meanwhile, Jada happily showed her support for her husband after her marriage has been in the spotlight since Smith slapped Chris Rock on the Oscars stage after a joke about his head. Jada shaved.
Although Will and Jada have shared few details about the current state of their marriage, she told DailyMail.com in December that her husband's shocking slap at the Oscars had saved their marriage.
"After all those years of trying to figure out if I would leave Will's side, it took that slap to make me realize that I will never leave him," she said. 'Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn't happened?'
Jada admitted that she and Will were living apart when her husband took the Oscars stage.
She revealed that they were separated for seven years, starting in 2016, in her memoir Worthy, which was published in 2023.
She noted that no permanent decisions have been made about the future of her marriage and explained that she and Will are "still figuring it out."
"We've been doing very hard work together," she said. "We just love each other deeply and we're going to find out what that's like."
In addition to Jaden, they also share her 22-year-old daughter Willow. Will also has son Trey, 30, from his first marriage to Sheree Zampino.
